The NAFCA described as   Africa’s Oscars,   Archibong was nominated alongside Ghana’s John Dumelo (‘One Night in Vegas’), Pascal Atuma (‘Secret Past’), Egbi Perez (‘Page 36’) and Montel Swaray (‘Temperamental’) in the Best Actor in a Leading Role Diaspora Film’ category.
Genevieve (‘Weekend Getaway’) will contend with Beverly Naya (‘Alan Poza’), Jackie Appiah (‘The Hunters’), Iretiola Doyle (‘Torn)’, Mbufung Seikeh (‘Ninah’s Diary’) for the Best Actress in a Leading Role category
Meanwhile, ‘Turning Point’ received nominations for Best Sound, Best Screenplay Diaspora Film, Best Cinematography Diaspora Film and Best Drama Diaspora Film.
Tuface will compete for the Favourite Artiste of the Year category with Yemi Sax and P-Square as well as for Favourite Song of the Year with P-Square (‘Beautiful Onyinye’) and Flavour (‘Ashawo’).
Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde will contend with Ify Hollywood, Fatima Jabbe, Monalisa Chinda and Queen Amina in the Favourite Actress.
Majid Michel (‘The Price’), Ramsey Nouah (‘Weekend Getaway’), Adjetey Anang (‘The Hunters’), Jim Iyke (‘Blood or Wine’) and Anurin Nwunembom (‘Ninah’s Diary’) were nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role.
Yvonne Nelson (‘One Night in Vegas’), Jackie Appiah (‘Turning Point’), Uche Jombo (‘Unguarded’), Marie Solo Peters (‘Le Silence Pure’) and Fatima Koroma (‘Nurses from Hell’) are nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role Diaspora.
For Best Actor in a supporting role Diaspora Film are Ernie Hudson (‘Turning Point’), Jimmy Jean Louis (‘One Night in Vegas’), Ash Da Vito (‘African Connection’), Van Vicker (‘One Night in Vegas’) and Michael Blackson (‘One Night in Vegas’).
Competing for Best Actress in a supporting role Diaspora Film are Merlisa Langellier (‘Page 36’), KD Hubert (‘Turning Point’), Sarodj Bertin (‘One Night in Vega’s), Gloria Washington (‘Nurses From Hell’) and Chisom Oz Lee (‘Unguarded’).
Competitors for Best Drama are ‘Alan Poza’, ‘The Hunters’, ‘Le Silence Pure’, ‘Weekend Getaway’ and ‘Ninah’s Dowry’.
Contending for the Best Comedy category are, ‘Alan Poza’, ‘Mrs. Somebody’, ‘American Mama’, ‘Wife for Ozobia’ and ‘Unguarded’.
‘A Wish’ (Brest Cancer), ‘The Hand of Fate’ (HIV), ‘Boys Cry’ (Bullying), ‘Ninah’s Dowry’ (Dowry) and ‘Le Silence Pure’ were nominated for Best Docu-Drama.
In the Best TV/Online Series are ‘Wife for Ozobia’, ‘African Connection’ and ‘Adams Apple’.
Other categories include Favourite Female Artiste Diaspora, Favourite Video of the Year, Best Short Film/Trailer, Best Cinematography, Best Screenplay, Best Editing, Best Visual Effects, Best Actor in a supporting role, Best Actress in a supporting role, Best Child Actor in a Film, Best Director in a Film, and Best film in Diaspora, amongst others.
The ceremony is scheduled for September 14th at a red-carpet event at the legendary Warner Theatre in Washington D.C.
