The Association of Public Procurement Practitioners of Nigeria (APPON) will hold its first inauguration ceremony and induction of members on October 26 in Abuja.
This was disclosed by the national president of the association, Mr Emem James Kanico in Abuja Friday when he led a delegation of APPON executives to the headquarters of the Media Trust Limited, publishers of Daily Trust, Aminiya, and other titles.

Kanico said the association, which was formed in 2020, consisted of procurement officers from ministries, departments and agencies that are duly certified by the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) to practice procurement in Nigeria.
“This is the only association in this country that practises only public procurement. When I say public procurement, we are referring to public sector procurement in ministries and agencies, not in the private sector,” he said.
He said the aim of the association was to promote and provide support for members through human capital development and to advance national development by ensuring due process in the government’s procurement business.
He sought for the partnership of Media Trust in the association’s activities and the upcoming inauguration and induction of members.
The acting Chief Executive Officer of Media Trust Limited, Malam Nura Daura, said public procurement was crucial to national development.
He said the company would support the association in publicity and also partner it in other areas necessary.
