Appointments: APC youths protest exclusion of Yerima, Al-Makura, Fayemi, others

A group, the Progressive Young Leaders Assembly (PYLA), has protested the exclusion of some prominent members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

It said not yet recognising the efforts of some key members, including former Governors Kayode Fayemi, Umaru Tanko Almakura, Bello Masari, Ahmad Sani Yerima and Abdusalam Abdulkarim Zaura among others who contributed greatly to the victory of the president had shown that the party’s reward system must be totally overhauled.

The PYLA Chairman, Abubakar Kurawa, stated this while addressing newsmen in Abuja yesterday.

He expressed displeasure at the ministerial and other appointments made so far by President Tinubu which he said did not take into consideration those who worked relentlessly and who gave their time, physical energy and hard-earned resources to support the victory of the party during the February 25 presidential elections.

Kurawa added that it was worrisome that the likes of Fayemi, Almakura, Masari, Dambazzau, Abdulkarim Zaura, Senators Aishatu Binani, Ovie Omo-Agege, Andy Uba and others were yet to get even letter of commendation for their efforts.

He said the ‘democratic injustice’ if not well addressed could be suicidal for the APC in the race to 2027 and beyond.

“Also, on the list of politicians who gave the APC participation in 2023 polls their best shot was Abdussalam Abdulkarim Zaura (popularly known as AA Zaura).”
