Applicant may spend 3 years in year jail for alleged theft of N46,000 phones

A 24-year-old applicant, Samuel Majekodumi, may go to jail jailed for three years for allegedly stealing a cell phone valued at N46,000, property of one Bukola Akanbi.

 Majekodunmi was arrested at Ikeja, Lagos, on Saturday April 22, 2017 by some security men attached to Access Advertising Company and subsequently handed over to the police at the Ikeja Division, Lagos Command.

 City News gathered that investigation revealed the suspect allegedly entered the security post and went away with the phone without knowing that he was being monitored by the security man on duty.

 At the conclusion of the investigation, the suspect was charged to court on a two-count charge.

 Majekodunmi, whose address is unknown, however, denied the charge and was admitted to bail in the sum of N20,000 with two sureties in like sum.

 The prosecutor, Inspector George Nwosu, said the defendant committed the offence on April 22, 2017 at Gafar Close, Adeniji Jones, Ikeja, Lagos.

  “The complainant was charging her phone at the security post and left to get water. As she was coming back, she saw the accused coming out of the security post.

 “The complainant quickly entered the security post to check her phone, but discovered that it had been unplugged and stolen. She raised an alarm and ran after the accused who took to his heels. But the accused was apprehended with the help of people and the phone was recovered,” he said.

 The accused may go to jail for three years on conviction.

 The magistrate O.I. Raji, adjourned the case until May 10, 2017 for mention.
