The chairmanship candidate of Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Mr Tombra Kelvin Teibowei, has sued the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over its alleged failure to conduct local government elections in Bayelsa State.
In the suit No.YHC/158/2022, filed at the state High Court in Yenagoa, on behalf of Mr Tombra Kelvin Teibowei by E.G. Okele Esq. of D. D. Fiderikumo Okele & Co. Legal Practitioners against BYSIEC and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as 1st and 2nd Defendants respectively, the claimant faulted BYSIEC’s decision to postpone the chairmanship and councillorship polls earlier slated for 14th of May, 2022.

It could be recalled that at the height of preparations by political parties and candidates for the local government election earlier scheduled for May 14, 2022, the chairman of BYSIEC, Hon. Ball Oyared, released a notice dated 28th April, postponing the poll.
He said in view of the apparent conflict with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), BYSIEC will notify the general public, particularly stakeholders of the new date for the conduct of the polls.
