APGA to conduct fresh primaries for governorship, state assembly seats

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has said it will utilise the window of substitution granted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to replace candidates for Houses of Assembly and governorship elections.

The National Organising Secretary of the party, Mr Ifeanyi Mbaeri, said that fresh primaries would be conducted on August 2 and 3, for the election of new candidates to replace those who had withdrawn from the contests.

According to him, not less than 347 aspirants took part in the primaries earlier conducted by the party across the country.

He also said that the party had pegged nomination fees for new aspirants intending to contest the fresh primaries at N500,000 for House of Assembly and N5m for governorship.

“In continuing strict compliance with the ‘INEC Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the 2023 General Elections, the APGA has fixed fresh primaries to hold on August 2 and 3, 2022, respectively for the nomination of fresh candidates to replace withdrawn Houses of Assembly and governorship candidates,” Mbaeri said.
