Candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gwagwalada area council, Alhaji Abubakar Jibrin Giri, has been declared winner of the Saturday, chairmanship election in the area.

The INEC returning officer for the election in the area, Prof Iliyasu Umar, who announced this at the INEC office on Sunday, declared that APC candidate, Giri scored 11, 125 votes to defeat the PDP candidate, Mohammed Kasim Ikwa, who got 9, 597 votes.
Our correspondent reports that the INEC office was condoned off by fierce-looking security agents.
