The Minister of Police Affairs, Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi, has expressed optimism that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would reclaim Sokoto State in 2023.
Dingyadi, who spoke during the inauguration of State and local government caretaker committees of the party in the state, said APC remained the party to beat in Nigeria.
“We will remain resolute and firm, and will never despair, in Sha Allahu, APC will clinch the governorship position in 2023,” he said.
Dingyadi, who lauded the leadership of the party in the state for providing efficient and credible leadership, also appreciated the leader of the party, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, for his commitment and selfless service to the people and the APC.
“Without him, without his support and encouragement, we would not have recorded the tremendous achievements we have made,” he also said.
Senator Wamakko, however, felicitated with the new caretaker leaders.
Wamakko, who represents Sokoto North Senatorial District in the Senate, said their reappointment on caretaker basis was sequel to their track records of unblemished leadership.
He said Nigerians were aware that the people of the state had remained supportive to the APC, assuring all of the sustained efforts towards ensuring that the party grew from strength to strength at all levels.
Wamakko also appreciated the continuous support of the cross section of the people of the state to APC, saying “I am once again thanking clerics, traders, traditional rulers, women and youths groups.”
Also speaking, the Executive Secretary, Police Trust Fund and the APC gubernatorial candidate in the 2019 general elections, Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, said APC remained the only party in the state as party members had remained comfortable without despair.
The state caretaker party chairman, Alhaji Isa Sadiq Achida passed a vote of confidence in the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari for sustained efforts to better the lives of Nigerians.
