A political group, All Progressives Congress Youth for Good Governance and Sustainable Development (YGG-SD) has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the leadership of the party to appoint a thoroughbred and seasoned politician as FCT minister.

The Coordinator of the group, Muhammad Kabir Abubakar, who disclosed this in a press briefing at the weekend in Abuja, said such a politician would strengthen the APC leadership in the FCT and chart ways for the party’s victory in future elections in the FCT.

He also called on the national leadership of the party to look at the internal wrangling over the FCT’s party executives, maintaining that most of those parading themselves as party leaders in the FCT had their names not featured and recognised at the APC’s national secretariat.

He said, “We have two different APC party executives in the FCT. We need to know which one is genuine and recognised by the authorities.

“We are also advocating for the creation and establishment of additional mandate secretariats to accommodate political stakeholders from the six area councils of the FCT and others from the six geo-political zones of Nigeria.”

The group frowned at the insinuation going round that a former Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) and immediate past Mandate Secretary of Transport of, Abdullahi Adamu Candido’s dossier was submitted for a possible ministerial appointment.
