Yahaya and his party are seeking redress at the tribunal, saying some elements in INEC and the PDP connived and tampered with the results of the governorship election held on 11 April.
He told reporters yesterday after submitting the petition that after scrutinising the election and all the processes involved, he believed his party, APC, won the election but was subverted and the victory given to the PDP.
He said: “The APC won the election, but some elements in the electoral commission and the PDP connived and contrived and purportedly claimed that the APC did not win the election.”
He denied reports making the rounds that he and his party had said they would not challenge Dankwambo’s victory.
He added that “I remember saying that we will go as a party and analyse all the processes before taking a step which is what we have done now.”
Counsel to the APC, Mr. Niyi Idowu, told journalists that his client had done the needful rather than taking the laws into his hands by coming to the tribunal to seek redress.
