The Chairman of Ogun State House of Assembly Committee on Information, Barrister Akinpelu Aina has expressed confidence that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate, Prince Dapo Abiodun would win Saturday’s election despite Governor Ibikunle Amosun’s stiff resistance.
Aina, who spoke with newsmen at Sango-Ota, Ado Oda/Ota Local Government on the sidelines of his empowerment programme for his constituents on Monday, faulted Amosun for working against the party’s candidate.
While arguing that it was unacceptable to quit party over lost of party’s ticket to other contenders, the legislator pointed out that Amosun ought to have respected the party’s supremacy.
Aina said “I want to assure you that without our governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun; he is just a single person, though highly placed in the party and in the state.
“He has a stake as well. But I want to assure you; no individual can dictate the tune. Some people have come out to tell the governor himself that not in their lifetime will he become the governor of Ogun State but while they are still alive, he became the governor in 2011 and he was reelected in 2015.
“So, if he is now coming out to say somebody will not become governor except his own chosen candidate, that is not good enough and it must be tackled accordingly.
“We know the configuration of Ogun State. All the people of the state, the Ijebu, Egba, Remo, Yewa and Awori, should come out fully and support the candidature of Prince Dapo Abiodun on the platform of APC for the governorship seat.”
