The All Progressive Congress (APC) in Yobe has conducted ward congress through affirmation across the 17 local government areas of the state.
Our correspondent reports that the Congress was peacefully conducted on Saturday in all the 178 political wards.
Speaking to newsmen at the Congress venue in Damaturu, the Minister of state foreign affairs, Hajiya Khadijah Bukar Abba Ibrahim, minister of state foreign affairs,, said the ward congress were peacefully conducted and the party executives returned through affirmation "All the state stakeholders chooses affirmation which happened to them".
"The Congress was successful and without rancor. Executives were returned by affirmation, those who died or resigned were replaced.I am satisfied that due process was adhered to and everyone was satisfied with the process" she said.
Alhaji Bulama Bukar, legislator representing Gujba state constituency said the arrangement made by the party for the congress was commendable.
"It has respected the people’s choice in Gujba and the entire state. This has also consolidate our campaigns for peaceful coexistence across the state" he said.
The state party Chairman of the APC, Alhaji Adamu Chilariye, said the wards congress in Yobe was.the outcome of the party’s directives that was backed by its constitution.
"We did exactly what the party constitution stipulated. All stakeholders approved to it and it went successful" he added.
Hon Ibrahim Copper, a contestant for APC Chairman of Potiskum local government,, said the affirmation of the party executives was against the party’s constitution.
He threatened to take court action if congress was not held in his constituency "We were denied right to contest as party members. We’ll seek redress from the party headquarters or even from a competent court when necessary" he said.
