The Senators who made this known in a chat with newsmen in Abuja yesterday, said the PDP was working to ensure that elections are not held in Nigeria because it feared its presidential candidate Dr. Goodluck Jonathan might lose.
Caucus leader Senator George Akume (APC, Benue), who led other senators said “the election was shifted because PDP was about to lose.”
Akume maintained that from the excuse of non-distribution of Permanent Voter Cards to the issue of security, the PDP has embarked upon on serious manipulation in a deliberate attempt to “undermine democracy.”
Elections, according to Akume, must be held as rescheduled in order to avoid any “unpleasant consequences. We must avoid the Somalia experience. There may be too many war lords.”
He said time has passed when people carry ballot boxes to their houses as INEC must use the card readers to accredit voters.
The lawmakers maintained that Nigeria should not be made the laughing stock of the international community as a result of selfish ambitions of a few people in power.
