APC’s visit to Obasanjo healthy for democracy – Nkire

Chief Nkire who left the PPA and was part of the visit of the APC leaders to Obasanjo told newsmen at the weekend in Abuja that the visit was a prelude to ensuring good governance, equity, fairness and justice in the socio-political life of the nation.
“I see nothing wrong with the visit of the APC to alert prominent Nigerians including former President Obasanjo on the poor state of the nation. Nigerians should shun regionalism, nepotism, partisanship, autocracy and focus on public interest,” he said.
Nkire said since Obasanjo paved way for President Jonathan to become President of the country, it was ideal for the opposition APC which according to him, is the only viable opposition party in the country, to relate to him the poor state of the nation under Jonathan’s administration.
He decried the socio-economic and political challenges affecting the nation urging the electorates to “shade the slave mentality” and take their constitutional responsibility of electing their leaders seriously.
Nkire warned against acts capable of truncating democracy and undermining the constitutional and territorial integrity of the country and appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to remain focused in conducting elections.
He stressed that Nigerians would be doing themselves great injustice if they failed to vote wisely in the 2015 general elections.
