APC raises alarm over fake delegate forms

An official of the party informed Daily Trust on telephone that the party has on the directive of the national secretary of the party, Mai Mala Buni, issued a circular to all the 36 states chairmen of the party including FCT to disregard the fake delegates forms as they did not emanate from the party leadership.
He said it is the work of some unscrupulous elements within and outside the party who have always been seeking ways to create confusion and cause disaffection among party members especially at this time when the party is going for its primaries.
A state party official in one of the states in the north-east where the forms were reportedly distributed told Daily Trust on telephone yesterday that the forms were allegedly brought to the state earlier in the week and that distribution started on Friday.
He said an alarm was raised by some members of the party compelling the people behind the distribution of the form to halt its circulation.
Two state party chairmen and a top national official of the party were allegedly fingered to be behind the emergence of the fake delegate forms, the source said.
When contacted on the matter, the Kebbi State APC chairman, Barrister Attahiru Maccido, said he was aware of the circulation of the fake delegates forms in some states.
He however said they have not been brought to Kebbi State, adding that he had on hearing the news alerted the national secretariat of the party and was told to ignore any delegate form as the party has not issued any yet.
“I heard about it. You know Kebbi State is very far. So before it even reached my state I called the national secretariat and they told me to ignore it if it is brought to me and uptill now I have not seen it,” he said.
Also commenting on the issue, chairman of the party in Delta State, Prophet James Erue, told our reporter on telephone that the forms were not brought or distributed in the state.
“I don’t know about the existence of any delegates form because if there is any directive it should come through the national party leadership and we don’t have such directive or form sent by the national leadership of the party,”he said.
Efforts to speak to the National Organising Secretary of the party, Osita Izunaso, failed as calls to his phone were not answered.
