APC Primary: Two killed in Lagos as violence erupts after announcement of results

At least two persons have been confirmed dead following violence that erupted at the venue of House of Assembly primary of the All Progressives Congress in the Alimosho area of Lagos.
The deceased victims were identified as Muftau Ogunlaye and Suraju Dauda, while many others reported sustained varying degrees of injury.
One of the viral videos of the incident which occurred on Friday evening showed people scampering to safety as gunshots rent the air. In another clip, a crowd rallied round a bloodied man who appeared lifeless.

Sources said “four persons were killed” but police confirmed two fatalities.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, told our correspondent, that violence broke out after the results of the election were announced.
He said, “Two persons were killed. They were Muftau Ogunlaye, 44, and Suraju Dauda, 42. No arrest has been made yet. A primary election was being held in the area. After the announcement of the results, they started fighting.”
