Chief Eniodu in his motion cited security and harassment from the state ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as reason for members of the party to accept his motion.

“We are witnesses of what transpired in the last rally we held which was attended by the National Chairman of our great party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and other members of the national working committee and stakeholders.

“So allowing ourselves to use consensus system as we have been doing before now would avail us the mayhem we will under go in the hand of our state governor who we all know hate APC with passion.

“Therefore, l, Chief Gabriel Eniodu, having weigh the three options proposed from our national headquarters and aware of the consequence of direct and indirect primaries hereby move a motion that APC Ebonyi state should accept consensus method to elect our flagbearers for the forth coming elections”, he explained.

However, the financial secretary, Okenwa Uka Nnachi, moved motion for indirect primaries to be next option in areas where aspirants fails to reach consensus and was seconded by Comrade Timothy Oku from Ishielu local government of the state.

The resolution which was put into vote had only one vote against the consensus option.

The meeting was at the directive of the national body of APC through a letter which was addressed to state party and read by the state chairman, Hon. Eze Nwachukwu.

The stakeholders who attended the meeting and signed the communique reached include Sen. Chris Nwankwo, Sen. Anthony Agbo, Hon. Kelechi Chima, Hon. Augustine Nwankwagu, and Hon. Tobias Okwuru, among others.

Meanwhile, the party’s choice for consensus and indirect primaries came when a group under the auspices of Dozie Ebonyi support group predicted that such approach would spell doom for APC in the state.
