As at 3pm today, voting materials for the presidential primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State were yet to be distributed to the various returning officers and other electoral officers across the state.
Our correspondent learnt this may be owing to the sharp division that persists between the two factions of the party in the state.
One faction which claimed to be the authentic one is led by Dr Matthew Achigbe, which former Senate leader, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, said duly emerged after a rigorous exercise when he served as secretary of the panel inaugurated by National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole.
The other faction is led by Godwin Etim John backed by the minister of Niger Delta ministry, Usani Usani, which obtained an Abuja high court ruling purportedly stopping the other from functioning.
One of the returning officers said some of them would be conveying the materials to far flung places with security escorts and there was no likelihood that the exercise will continue today.
“Perhaps, we would be directed to conduct only the governorship primaries tomorrow”, he said.
Dr. Achigbe, the state chairman, said he would speak later after the official declaration of Senator Ndoma-Egba for the Senate later in the day.
