Despite distributing materials for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary election in Benue State, there are no visible activities ongoing in some wards within the Makurdi metropolis.
Our correspondent who went around the town reports that there was nothing happening at the Wadata and Ankpa wards except for few persons that were seen seated and chatting.
It was learnt at the APC state secretariat that materials for the election were distributed for the exercise as early as between 7:00am and 8:00am today.
But, the state Publicity Secretary, James Ornguga, who confirmed that materials arrived yesterday and were immediately sent to local government headquarters for onward distribution to various wards, noted that the exercise was ongoing in the wards across the state.
He added that people weren’t trooping out because the leaders of the party at the state level decided that since President Muhammadu Buhari is the sole candidate, the executives of the wards would just adopt him using the party’s register.
Ornguga also said the returning officer, Senator George Akume, would be addressing party supporters later this evening at the state secretariat when the results are finally collated.
