The All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday postponed the public presentation/launching of its translated constitution earlier scheduled for today.
The party’s constitution, which has been translated into three major Nigerian languages (Hausa, Yoruba and Igbo), is scheduled to be launched in honour of the party’s first interim National Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande.
The party, in a three-paragraph statement signed by its National Secretary, Mai Mala Buni, said it regretted the inconvenience caused by the postponement.
A new date, the party said, would be announced in due course.
Though the party did not state the reasons for the postponement of the launch expected to hold at International Conference Centre, Abuja, sources said the likely absence of a former governor of Lagos state, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is the chairman of the occasion, was responsible.
The sources said the postponement was another indication that the key stakeholders were still nursing grudges, even after the seeming resolution of the leadership crisis in the National Assembly.
In an advertorial, which was placed in Daily Trust on Sunday, President Muhammadu Buhari was expected as Special Guest of Hounour, while former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is the Chief Launcher.
In the advertorial, the APC National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun was the Chief Host, Chief Audu Ogbeh will serve as the Key Note Speaker, while Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President Bukola Saraki and Speaker Yakubu Dogara of the House of Representatives are Guests of Honour.
