The two leading political parties in Sokoto State, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressives Congress (APC), have engaged in a war of words over the recent visit of Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike to the state.

Wike was invited by his Sokoto State counterpart, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, to commission and lay the foundations of some projects in the state.

Reacting to the visit, the opposition APC described it as a show of shame, adding that Governor Tambuwal was only exposing his failures the more.

“He should have concealed his dirty linen and continued his political shuttle across the country, chasing an impossible dream, in the hope that people will classify him as progressive and as an achiever.

“The fact remains that while outsiders may be deceived, the people of Sokoto State have long realized that they have misplaced their trust and are biting their fingers in regret,” APC said.

However, the Special Adviser to Tambuwal on Public Affairs, Abubakar Shekera, said “The utterances of APC chairman on the recent visit of Governor Wike to commission projects were mere rantings of someone who is either in incurable denial or is high on something, probably the trauma of losing election.

“Governor Wike wasn’t the only visitor to Sokoto on that day. Another guest was Senate President Ahmed Lawan who laid the foundation for the State Teaching Hospital which is under construction in Kasarawa.

“For Achida to deny the quantum of projects being carried out currently in Sokoto is a continuation of the dark politics for which APC was rejected by the people in 2019,” Shekera added.
