APC, PDP trade blame over insecurity in Bauchi

The Bauchi State chapter All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed concerns over deteriorating security situation in the state, calling on the Federal Government to intervene by applying necessary measures to safeguard their lives and property in good time.

But the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state said the blame should go to the federal government, which is being controlled by the APC.

A statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary of the APC, Adamu Jallah, and made available to newsmen on Thursday in Bauchi, said the unfortunate incident has advanced to an extent that no one is safe.

The statement reads: “The attention of the government and the general public is hereby drawn to this menace which is threatening our existence in Bauchi state.

“Our main concern is the failure of the state government to take proactive measures in tackling insecurity.

“Despite the recurrent attacks, the state government is yet to take adequate measures in tackling insecurity.”

The statement condemned the killing of “our member of the state house of assembly representing Dass local government, who was assassinated and two of his wives and daughter were kidnapped by yet to be identified gunmen on August 14th, 2020.”

The party also recalled that the Governor’s elder brother was kidnapped in broad daylight some months ago in the state capital and it took days before he was rescued from the hands of his captors.

However, the PDP through its State Publicity Secretary, Yayanuwa Zainabari, said that the APC national government is responsible for the insecurity not only in Bauchi state but across the country.

He stated that: “The Military, Police, Civil Defence and other security operatives are under the President and Commander in Chief who is from the APC.

Zainabari explained that despite some incidents of criminals activities, Bauchi State remained the most peaceful state in the Northeast where all the victims of insecurity, especially by the insurgency are being accommodated.

He added that: “The PDP is equally calling on the Federal Government not to allow the security situation deteriorated like what is happening in Borno, Yobe and other APC states such as Katsina, Niger and Kaduna.”

He noted the PDP-led administration of Governor Bala Mohammed is working hard with all the relevant security agencies in the state to protect the lives and property of its citizens.
