APC, PDP supporters clash in Gombe

Sunday Trust learned that the fight erupted when supporters of the APC began chanting “sai Buhari” and those loyal to the rival PDP started “ ba muyi”, meaning “we are not in support”, as a result of which the two factions violentlyclashed, leaving two people seriously injured.
According to a witness, Bala Rosi of Jeka da fari, Gombe metropolis, after the weeding which took place in the mosque, the youth of the two political parties began exchanging bitter words. It took the intervention of security forces to disperse them.
Rosi alleged that supporters of the PDP ignited the fight by throwing stones and other dangerous weapons at their APC rivals.
A member representing Gombe Kwami federal constituency, Honourable Khamisu Mailantarki, was almost lynched by the angry mob at the venue. Mailantarki could not even stay in Gombe after the wedding as he immediately fled to Bauchi.
The Gombe State Public Relations Officer, Fwaje Aatajiri, told our correspondent on phone that he was not aware of the clash saying, “I have not received any report from our men concerning the clash but as soon as I get something will call you.”
Meanwhile, a meeting of the APC harmonisation committee ended in a stalemate when some aggrieved members of the party accused Mailantarki of causing disunity in the new APC in the state.
According to Abdullahi Kabo, it was a meeting called by the party Assistant Women Leader, Hajiya Amina in collaboration with Mailantarki. Kabo alleged the meeting was at the instance of Mailantarki to pocket the party and remote-control the party’s supporters to do his bidding.
He some supporters who came from far and near were prevented from entering the venue but Mailantarki, with a large crowd of his supporters, was allowed into the venue.
He accused the legislator of bringing people from his area, Gombe South, to represent Gombe North at the meeting.
Mailantarki, through the defunct CPC chairman Baba Audu Kwami directed journalists interested in listening to his side of the story to come to Bauchi where he promised to grant them an interview.
