Ward executives of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yamaltu/Deba LGA of Gombe State yesterday resigned from their respective positions over the feud between the governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya and Senator Muhammad Danjuma Goje.

Our correspondent reports that the ward executives numbering 178 from the 11 wards of the LGA announced their decision after a stakeholders’ meeting.

Addressing newsmen after the meeting, immediate past chairman of APC in the LGA, Alhaji Sulaiman Ibrahim, said the party ward executives resigned from their respective offices in protest of the ‘attack’ on Senator  Goje, three weeks ago.

According to him, the executives condemned the attack and decided to pitch tent with the senator.

“As political leaders of APC in the 11 wards of Yamaltu/Deba LGA, we hereby affirm our support and loyalty to Senator Goje as the genuine and recognised leader of the APC in Gombe State,” he declared.

The party chieftain described as an unmatched, the achievement of Senator Goje in the last 10 years through constituency projects.

“He has executed numerous projects in each and every 11 wards of the LGA, that have a direct bearing on the lives of people of the Gombe Central Senatorial Districts,” he said.

When contacted, the state Publicity Secretary of the APC, Mr Moses Kyari described the resignation as mere propaganda by the Goje’s political camp.

He said the party will take legal action against person that organised the meeting and allegedly circulated the “wrong information that the party executives have resigned.”
