The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has inaugurated a 57-man Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) for youth mobilisation for the North West.

The committee, under the directorship of Barrister Bello Muhammad Goronyo, who is also the North West Secretary of the party, was inaugurated at the weekend with members drawn from the seven states that make up the zone.

He informed the members that among other duties expected of the committee was to coordinate an aggressive mobilisation of youths in the zone under the general guidance of the national youth coordinator, organise and identify leaders in each state and educate them on their democratic rights.

He said, “The committee is also expected to develop and implement Get Out The Vote (GOTV) strategies for targeting students youth clubs, the national youth council/national youth movement and first-time voters within the ages of 18-25.

“The committee is to also liaise with the grassroots mobilisation directorate to implement door-to-door campaigns and incentivisation of the youths.

“The North West is the largest and most populous zone in Nigeria both in terms of votes and population, and the committee is expected to take advantage of it and deliver votes that would give the desired victory to the party’s presidential candidate and his running mate.

“Thirty-two per cent of the votes are from the North West, and with the presidential candidacy of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima, the votes will definitely surpass it.”
