APC Guber Primaries: Ganduje clinches guber ticket with 2.7m votes

Kano State governor Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has emerged as an unopposed gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) with 2,740,847 votes.

Ganduje, who was aspiring for the seat alone, was declared as sole candidate of the party by the Chief Returning Officer of the just concluded primary election, Mr Pius Odudu.

It would be recalled that the ruling APC had adopted direct primaries in Kano.

Expressing his satisfaction with the election result, governor Ganduje commended the peaceful conduct of the election and party members for their support to his second term bid.

“The outcome of the primaries has showed that electorates have faith in what we are doing towards strengthening democracy through provision of developmental projects, programmes and policies,” he said.

Ganduje, who spoke through his Deputy, Dr Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, encouraged party members across the country to vote for President Muhammadu Buhari come 2019 general election.

He said, “Our major concern is to take Nigeria to the next level of development. APC chooses to conduct direct primary in order to make the electoral process more participatory, fairer and all-inclusive where everyone will have sense of ownership.”
