The gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara state, Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, has called for the support of all Kwarans in order to defeat the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state come 2019.
Abdulrazaq made the call in Ilorin on Tuesday while delivering his acceptance speech as the candidate to represent the APC in the coming governorship elections.
“Now that I have been formally declared the APC’s 2019 Governorship candidate for Kwara State, the essence and demands of democratic competition and statesmanship is required of us all to bond and unite in the pursuit of our shared political persuasion, policies, ideals and vision.
“Only in this way, can we hope to prevail over our political foes who for years gone by have held us hostage to their vicious politics of reaction, selfishness, greed and subservience in Kwara state.
“Accordingly, I extend my warm hands of fellowship to my co-contestants and their supporters alike so that together we can sweep the floor with these dark forces of reaction in the 2019 elections at all levels in Kwara State. I hope to have the honour and pleasure in the days ahead to meet with all stakeholders so that we can chart our way forward from here.
“My fellow Kwarans, the time for change has come. Change, in fact, is on the way, God willing. Our intent is noble; our purpose, clear; while our resolve is rock steady. We in the APC and indeed every Kwara citizen of goodwill has a duty and obligation to help defeat the PDP locally and nationally in 2019 so that we can halt the decline, decay and despair in our dear Kwara state.
“It is then with this noble desire and goal in mind that I warmly accept my nomination as the APC’s candidate for the 2019 Governorship election in Kwara State, and would greatly relish the chance and privilege to face up to the responsibilities and challenges that come with the office,” he said.
Also, the party’s candidate for Kwara Central senatorial district, Dr Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe in his acceptance speech said it is time for people of the constituency to bind the wounds of division and get together as a people of great vision and unblemished candour.
He said, “to all the APC leaders both local and national, I say it is time for us to come together as one united people. I therefore pledge to every members of Kwara Central Senatorial District my core mandate that I will be Senator for all if given the opportunity to serve them at the Red Chambers.
“For those who have chosen not to support me in the past, of which there were a few people, I am reaching out to you for your guidance and your help so that we can work together and collectively salvage our people from age long deprivation and avoidable servitude.”
