APC guber aspirant, supporters defect to PDP in Taraba

Akirikwen, who declared his defection at a PDP governorship rally in Jalingo, told the crowd that he and over 17,000 supporters from across the 16 local government areas of the state have now joined the PDP.
He said the reason for his defection was the injustice done to him by the APC, especially during the state’s congress, which produced Senator Aisha Jummai Alhassan as the governorship candidate.
He said: “The canopy of any human existence is justice and when you cannot find justice, nothing will be done in that place. I was a member of the PDP before now and I thought I left PDP because of injustice, but what I went and saw in the APC was worse than that of  PDP.”
He said he made complaints to the national secretariat of the APC over the anomalies in the congresses but nothing was done until the point of his defection from the party.
Responding, PDP state chairman, Victor Bala Kona, welcomed the defectors, saying they would be accorded the rights of members.
