A gubernatorial aspirant of under the APC in Taraba State, Alhaji Aliyu Umar, has threatened to sue the state government over the sealing of his campaign office. Alh. Umar, in a statement by his spokesman, Kabir Jalo, gave the Taraba State Government 24 hours to unseal and vacate the office or face legal action.
Umar alleged that the chief security officer of the Government House in Jalingo led 30 mobile policemen and invaded the campaign office on Sunday. He said during the invasion, staff in the office were forced out and the doors sealed off.
Daily Trust findings reveal that the campaign office was rented out to the APC by the family of late Danbaba Suntai.
The building, it was gathered, was purchased by late Suntai before his death, but that the state government insisted that it was the owner of the property. Contacted, the Special Assistant on Media to Gov. Darius Ishaku, Mr. Bala Dan Abu, said he was not aware of the issue.
“Many people asked me about the matter, but I told them that I don’t know anything about it,” he said.
