The All Progressives Congress-controlled states are committed to implementing a recommendation to grant six-month maternity leave to nursing mothers in their states.
According to them, this is because of the significant role parental support play in the lives of children and the need to enhance the health of nursing mothers.

This was contained in a communique issued Monday after the virtual meeting of Secretaries to the State Governments of APC-controlled states signed by the SSG of Jigawa State, Adamu Fani Fanini, and his Plateau counterpart, Danladi Atu.
They also resolved to strengthen food production and security to avert the looming food crisis in Nigeria in view of “the strong linkages between national security and food security.”
They also resolved to encourage and support women to practice six months of exclusive breastfeeding of children from birth.
