The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the debut of its newly-designed website and other official social media accounts.

They are Website: www.officialapcng.com; Twitter: https://twitter.com/OfficialAPCNg; Facebook: https://web.facebook.com/officialapcng/; Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/officialapcng/; and YouTube: Official APC Nigeria.

The APC National Publicity Secretary, Malam Bolaji Abdullahi, said on Sunday that the newly-designed website featured a streamlined and uncluttered design, offering user-friendly functionality and rich content.

Malam Abdullahi added that the website as well as the official social media accounts offered quick and easy access to essential information and features to keep party members, the media and the general public abreast of party activities, the APC-led federal government and APC-governed states.

He promised that the APC’s new website would be updated regularly with news on party accomplishments and events.

While urging the visitors to explore the new website and sign up for APC’s mailing list and newsletter to receive direct emails on the Contact Us page, he also implored them to follow the APC on the listed social media accounts.

Before this decision, the party had on several occasions distanced itself from the twitter handle, "@APCNigeria” following unauthorized tweets and what it called subsequent false reports credited to the Party on the outcome of the Benue South Senatorial rerun election (February 21, 2016) and an “Assessment Poll” on President Muhammadu Buhari Administration (May 31, 2017), among others.

The APC leadership also felt embarrassed after what it called false allegations by Mr Reno Omokri, which was contained in an April 5, 2018 report published on the website of national daily titled: ‘APC secretly reaching out to me for friendship – Reno’.

The party, in a release signed by its Assistant Director, Publicity, Edegbe Odemwingie, said the report showed that Mr Omokri’s allegation was based on interactions he had on twitter with one Philip Obin who managed a twitter handle, "@APCNigeria”.

“Despite our rebuttals, Mr. Obin has continued to impersonate the Party through the twitter handle, ‘@APCNigeria’.

“For the avoidance of doubts, we wish to state that Philip Obin was one of the numerous youth volunteers for our party during the 2015 elections. He administered the Twitter handle at the time. But despite numerous appeals to him by various well meaning party representatives, to hand over the handle, Mr. Obin has refused and in defiance continues to use it to misrepresent the Party.

“In essence, therefore, Obin’s interactions with Omokri are in his personal capacity and do not involve Party in any way.

“Giving this latest incident, the Party is now left with no option than to take other lawful actions to restrain Obin from further embarrassing the Party. The general public is yet again reminded that the Twitter handle @APCNigeria is not a Twitter handle of the All Progressives Congress,” the release issued by Odemwingie on April 6, 2018 further read.
