The caretaker/extraordinary convention planning committee (CECPC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has fixed the sum of N20m for the nomination form for national chairmanship position ahead of the March 26 convention of the party.

The Director of Organisation of the party, Prof. Al-Mustapha Ussiju Medaner, said this on Tuesday in a statement in Abuja.

The sale of nomination forms, which was expected to have started on Monday, March 14, will last for only four days and will close on Friday, March 18.

Also, the form for the deputy national chairmanship aspirants was pegged at N10m while the form for the zonal chairman (national vice-chairmen) position and other offices will be sold for N5m.

According to the CECPC, female aspirants and physically challenged persons will pay only 50 percent of the prescribed fees for each position.

Screening of aspirants is expected to take place on March 19 while the highly anticipated convention will take place exactly a week later on Saturday March 26, 2022 at the Eagle Square, Abuja.

There were however, reports that the sale of nomination forms billed for Monday March 14, did not commence as scheduled, raising anxiety.

It is not yet clear if sales of form will be extended beyond Friday 18th of March, which was originally billed as last day for sale of form.

The party was recently enmeshed in leadership crisis after Governor Abubakar Sani Bello, of Niger State, took over as the acting national chairman of the party with the backing of some state governors, led by Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai; and also, the reported backing of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), however, refused to recognized the Bello leadership, for not following due process.

The commission said it only recognized the CECPC chairman and Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni and CECPC Secretary, Senator John James Akpanudoedehe.
