Candidate of the APC, Ismail Danbaba, has defeated Bage Nuhu of the PDP in the Nasarawa Central State Constituency by-election held on Saturday.
The result was announced on Saturday night under the supervision of INEC National Commissioner in charge of Kogi, Nasarawa and Kwara states, Malam Mohammed Haruna.
INEC Returning Officer Mr Iliyasu Umar said the APC candidate scored 7,475 votes to defeat the candidate of PDP who polled 4,608.
It could be recalled that the by-election was conducted to fill the state constituency seat that became vacant after the death of the late member, Suleiman Adamu, in May due to the new coronavirus infection.
In his reaction, Chairman of Nasarawa Local Government and a member of APC, Mohammed Otto, expressed satisfaction with the exercise.
A chieftain of PDP in the state, Barr. Baba Ayiwulu said, “It is a test towards 2023.”
