The Chairman of the outgoing Caretaker Committee of the All Progressives Congress, Mai Mala Buni, during his opening remark at the party’s national convention, said the party can achieve more if there is unity among its members.
Buni also noted that dispute is common when running a democracy. He said, “We are conscious of the anxiety among our members for the conduct of the convention to elect sustainable national leaders, we are also aware of the rising interest among individuals especially those with the ambition to aspire for the 2023 general election.
“This anxiety has however translated to internal wrong recently recorded in the party, however, such disputes are both normal and common, especially in the running democracy like ours. The beauty of such disagreement is the ability to realise the problem and resolve them, then come out of them stronger.”
Buni also commended the president for ensuring peace in the party without ‘diverse effects’.
He said, “Once again I wish to commend Mr President for the excellent leadership exhibited in resolving peace without diverse effect on the party and the convention. As we elect the new national leaders, I call on every member of the party to please support and corporate with the leaders from the ward to the national level, we should please forget about our differences and collectively work for the success of our party. This is very necessary for us so that as we approach the 2023 general election, get are a united front.”
