A group of aspirants for the upcoming local government congresses in Yobe state on Friday accused party official of ascending with nomination forms and other election materials.
The Chairman of the 7-member committee for the wards and local governments congress committee, Alhaji Ibrahim Dika Galadima said he has handed over the nomination forms and other election materials to the party officials in the state.
Spokesman of the group, Alhaji Adamu Yarom said they were at the party secretariat since morning but none of the party officials was present.
"It’s unfortunate that the party officials would carryout such undemocratic act. The nomination forms were duly handed over to them by the 7-member committee but they absconded with forms and switched off their phones.
"We are going into a meeting now with our lawyers to come up with a petition and the next step we will take against tommorrow. I want to assure our party faithful that we will have a parallel congress if that must happen and take up the matter untill justice is served," he added.
Efforts by our reporter to reach the party Chairman in the state, Alhaji Adamu Chilariye, failed as his number was not going through and he did not respond to text message sent him as at the time of filing this report.
It will be recalled that hundreds of aspirants that paid for the nomination forms of ward congresses in that state had alleged disenfranchisement due to hoarding of nomination forms by the party officials.
The allegation was denied by the party’s Secretary, Alhaji Abubakar Bakabe, adding that none of the aspirants contacted him to collect the forms.
