The chairman of the Sokoto State Independent Electoral Commission, Alhaji Aliyu Suleiman on Monday declared All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of all the 23 chairmanship positions in Sokoto state after the last Saturday local government election conducted in the state.
APC also won all the counsellorship positions in the 23 local government areas.
According to the chairman, 15 political parties participated in the elections.
However, the main opposition party in the state, Peoples Democratic Part (PDP) did not participate in the election.

Immediately after the declaration, the winners were issued with certificates of return by the chairman of the commission.
Daily Trust gathered that, the elected chairmen would be sworn in by Governor Ahmed Aliyu of the state today around 4pm.
