A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon Bashir Muhammed Yusuf has snubbed the party’s National Executive (NEC) directive by filing a case at an FCT High Court, Abuja, against the APC Aspirants’ Forum and Col. Abdulaziz Yar’adua (rtd).
The APC NEC had in June, 2020, ordered all party members to withdraw pending litigagions and cautioned aggrieved stalwarts from filing fresh cases in court.
But in the court papers made available to newsmen on Friday, in Abuja, Yusuf is asking the court to declare him as the substantive National Coordinator of the APC Aspirants’ Forum.
He is also praying the court to compel the second respondent (Yar’adua) to make full disclosure of all material facts and render full account of all monies received since his alleged illegal assumption, occupation and operation as the national coordinator of the Forum.
Yusuf had on November 24, 2020, released a statement as National Coordinator of the Forum endorsing a former governor of Zamfara state, Abdulaziz Yari for APC chairmanship.
But in a swift reaction, the National Secretary of the Forum, Sheriff Yusuf Banki, said Bashir Yusuf was unanimously suspended as BOT Chairman of the APC Aspirants Forum in 2019 over alleged gross misconduct and should stop parading himself as the Forum’s National Coordinator.
However, Bashir Yusuf told newsmen on Friday in Abuja, that “There is nothing like suspension. Will there be any suspension without giving any letter to the person you suspended? Let them show the letter they claimed they served me as well as the acknowledgement copy.”
“I think they have seen that the convention is approaching that is why they want to destabilise our party, that is why they want to cause disunity and disaffection in the APC. I think they are members of the opposition, maybe the PDP,” he said.
