The Governor Mai Mala Buni-led Caretaker/Extraordinary National Convention Planning Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday met at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
The committee failed to brief newsmen at the end of the meeting which lasted for several hours.
Some of the committee members contacted by our correspondent to give a hint on the outcome of the closed-door meeting declined comments.
But the party in a statement last night by its Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Yekini Nabena, kept mum on the party’s national convention expected to hold this year.
The Buni Caretaker was constituted in June, 2020, to steer the party’s affairs and organise a national convention within six months, after the dissolution of the Adams Oshiomhole led National Working Committee (NWC).
But barely two months to the expiration of its tenure, the committee has not rolled out a programme for the convention, leading to anxiety in the party.
According to the statement, the committee deliberated on the issues of registration, update, revalidation of the party’s membership register, reconciliation in the party, committee’s briefing of President Muhammadu Buhari and other critical stakeholders in the party about its activities among others.
The committee also directed all members with pending cases in court against the party to withdraw them.
