Eminent Nigerians under the aegis of Eminent Leaders’ Group of The Patriots Thursday met in Lagos, demanding a new constitution to take Nigeria out of the woods.
Former Commonwealth Secretary-General, Chief Emeka Anyaoku and leader of the Pan-Yoruba Socio-Political Organisation, Afenifere, Chief Ayo Adebanjo insisted that the 1999 constitution remains faulty and said only a truly federal constitution will take Nigeria out of the woods.
Anyaoku who spoke after the meeting at Chief Rotimi Williams’ Chambers in Ilupeju said that the 1999 constitution drives on the concept of unitary system of government, which reposes much power to the central government.
