Police in Kano has rescued a man locked up in solitary confinement for the past 15 years by his father.
Ibrahim Lawan has been in illegal confinement since he was 20, locked away by his biological father, Lawan Sheka.

Sheka is said to be the chief imam of a mosque in the area.
He fled at the arrival of the police.
The rescue was at Sheka Quarters, Kumbotso council area of Kano.
Ibrahim has been hospitalised at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital for treatment.
Kano police spokesman DSP Abdullahi Kiyawa said the police acted on confidential intelligence about Ibrahim’s condition on Sunday morning.

Two days before his rescue, police rescued stormed Farawa Quarters of Kumbotso council area to rescue Ahmad Aminu, a 32-year-old locked away by his father on allegations he indulged in drug abuse.
Ahmad who is currently responding to treatment at Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital was rescued following an alarm raised by a concern neighbour, Rahma who alerted the police about his plight in confinement.
