The Resident Electoral Commissioner for Abia State, Joseph Iloh, has reported that the recently renovated Independent National Electoral Commission office in Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State was set ablaze on late Sunday night.
INEC National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye, said in Abuja on Monday that there were no casualties on the part of the commission’ staff on guard duty, but that the building was virtually destroyed.

“Apart from furniture items, all electoral materials and office equipment were destroyed. The matter has been reported to the police for investigation,” Okoye said.
The INEC office in Essien Udim Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State had been razed on May 2.
