A 20-year-old woman, Jamila Ishiaku, has been arrested for allegedly scalding her pregnant sister-in-law with hot water while she was in labour.
The suspect said she acted out of anger after an argument.
Our correspondent learnt that the incident happened on January 27, at Dubeli in Yola North Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
The victim’s husband, Dahiru Gambo, said he received a distress call while at his shop that his wife, who was in labour, was poured boiled water.

Gambo said he rushed to the police station to get the suspect, who happens to be his relative’s wife, arrested.
He said even his relative, the suspect’s husband, had yet to show any sympathy.
He said, “Seeing my wife cry made me cry too. She was in severe pain.
“The victim’s condition has been precarious since the incident, and she gave birth to her baby while still reeling from the trauma.”
Gambo said his wife had been unable to lie on her bed for five days, a stark reminder of the brutality she endured.
He vowed to pursue justice for his wife, saying, “I will ensure that justice is served on my wife, and I will never relent in my efforts.”
The victim’s sister, Nefisat Dahiru, also called for justice in the case.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, confirmed the arrest and assured that the suspect would face the full wrath of the law.
