A 36-year-old man, Amos Daniel, has been arrested while giving thanks to God for a new car in a church in the Ojo area of Lagos for allegedly stealing the car 24 hours after being hired as a driver.
The car’s owner reported the theft of her Lexus to the police, leading to Daniel’s arrest.
Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Adegoke Fayoade, explained that the suspect claimed he had repented, which was why he believed God gave him the car.
Fayoade, speaking through the command’s spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin, detailed how Daniel approached the complainant seeking job as a driver.

He said the complainant hired him without thoroughly checking his background.
He further said, “Interestingly, the driver took the keys and drove away with the vehicle. The car was later tracked to a church in Ojo, where the suspect was giving thanks. He told his pastor he had bought a car and came to give thanks to God for providing it.”
In his confession, Daniel admitted to stealing the car and stated he intended to use it for Uber.
