Joseph Aniso and Abule Ateh at the weekend emerged winners of the second edition of the Bayelsa state scrabble retreat, categories A and B held at the indoor hall of the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa.
Aniso won in Category A after 12 rounds, winning eight games, amassing 16 points and a cumulative score of +743.

The Bayelsa State Scrabble Association is using the retreat to intensify preparations ahead of the 20th National Sports Festival in Edo state.
Iteimo Birigeni, also finished first runner-up with eight wins and +461 cumulative score while Timi Woko and Ben Quickpen came third and fourth respectively.
In Category B, Ateh came out tops after 10 rounds, winning seven games with 14 points and +609 cumulative score.
Pipa Preye came second winning seven games while August Desmond and Douglas Borogha placed third and fourth respectively.
The third edition of the retreat is billed to hold this weekend at the same venue.
During the retreat, the newly appointed Chairman of Bayelsa State Scrabble Association, Mr Daniel Alabrah, donated five new scrabble boards to the Bayelsa State Sports Council to help scrabble players in the state to prepare for the now suspended 2020 National Sports Festival.
