ANCOPSS, Qur’an memorisers to support almajiri commission

The All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS) has described the appointment of Dr Muhammad Sani Idris as Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Almajiri and Out-of-School Children’s Education as well-deserved.

ANCOPSS’s National President, Alhaji Muhammad Ibn Musa, made this known when he led his members from Yobe State on a courtesy visit to Dr Idris in Abuja to register their support to the commission.

He expressed optimism that Idris’ wealth of experience would revitalise efforts to address almajiri and out-of-school children’s education in Nigeria just as he did in Yobe State during his tenure as Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education.

Similarly, the Association of Quran Memorisers and Traditional Islamic Schools of Nigeria paid a courtesy visit to Dr Idris, with the National Chairman, Gwani Sulaiman Mai Zube Kabala, pledging cooperation towards achieving the commission’s mandate.

He said the almajiri had for long been neglected in Nigeria, particularly in education, and expressed hope for a positive change.

Dr Idris thanked both associations for their support and pledged to work tirelessly to address the issue of almajiri and out-of-school children in Nigeria.
