A 65-year-old woman, Mrs Martha Umenweke, has been arrested for allegedly inflicting injuries on her 19-year-old house help, Chidiebere Otenyi, after accusing her of stealing n25,000 in the Ezinifite area in Aguata LGA.
It was gathered that one Mr David tied up the victim’s hands and legs before the torture.
Meanwhile, the victim denied the accusation, saying she never took her madam’s money.
She said, “I’ve lived with my madam for a year and four months, but I have been severely punished at the slightest provocation, including being starved.
“I’m 19 years old but still in Primary 3 because she demoted me when I came.”

Reacting, the Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Ify Obinabo, said, “The culprit won’t go scot free since she had the mind to inflict injuries and pain on another person,” adding that the case had been handed over to the police.
