Local Government Authorities in Anambra State are recording their financial transactions with pencil.
The state House of Assembly Committee on Public Accounts who disclosed this on Tuesday, also frowned at a situation.
The committee said, appearing for verification of audited accounts with financial records written with pencils was unacceptable.
The chairman of the House Committee, Hon. Charles Ezeani urged the authorities in the local government areas to use pen instead of erasable pencils in their financial documents.
The Committee expressed its dissatisfaction while verifying the 2017 financial transactions of the Onitsha South Local Government Authority at the State House of Assembly Complex in Awka.
According to the Committee chairman, it was a criminal act, punishable by law for one to use erasable pencil in posting account figures in public documents.
The Committee reprimanded Onitsha South, Aguata and Awka South Local Government Authorities for using pencil in their account records.
According to him, Anambra state Assembly had passed a resolution that made such act a crime.
