Anambra State Police Command have arrested a tricycles snatcher, one Ikechukwu Eze in Ozubulu and recovered pump action gun and bullets from him.

Confirming the arrest, the state police ispokesman, Haruna Mohamed said Police operatives attached to Ozubulu Division in conjunction with Vigilante group intercepted the suspect with the gun in Ozubulu on Thursday the 28th of Nov 2019.

“On the 28/11/2019 at about 02:30am while on routine patrol, Police operatives attached to Ozubulu Division in conjunction with Vigilante group intercepted one Ikechukwu Eze ‘m’ aged 21 years of Okpuneme village Umudim, Nneni with a tricycle (Keke-Napep)bearing plate number PHC 541 QV” he said.

According to him, a search was conducted on the tricycle and the police recovered one Pump Action gun and seven live cartridges.

He stated that Investigation revealed that suspect allegedly snatched the tricycle at a gunpoint from one Munachi Dike of Awada Obosi at Onitsha Owerri Expressway before Oba junction.

He also said that the suspect has confessed to the crime voluntarily and would be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded.

Meanwhile,the state Commissioner of Police John B.Abang has urged tricycle and motorcycle riders to always be careful of the passengers they pick especially at nights and in isolated areas in order not to fall victims of snatching syndicates.
