Anambra: police arrests 6 suspected cultists, recovers arms

In its determined efforts to stem the tide of crime in the Anambra State,the Police Command, Special Anti-Cult unit (SPAC)  has arrested six suspected cult members terrorising  the state .

The Police Public Relations Officer PPRO Haruna Mohammed said that yesterday   at about 03:45am following intelligence report in Igbariam in Anambra East Local Government Area, Police special Anti-Cult Unit arrested four suspects.

The suspected cultists are Uyunwane Ikenna, aged 22 years of Enugu Agidi, Mbam  Onyeka  aged 21 years of Umdet Onitsha, Omaka Favor aged 23 years of Amisiri, Ebonyi State and Onyeka Osaegbu ‘ aged 23 years of Otolo in Nnewi South Local Goverment Area of Anambra State.

He said all the suspects had confessed to be members of senior Vikings Confraternity Secret Cult (SVC)

Exhibits found in their possession include a locally made single-barrel pistol.

Meanwhile, in a separate operation, two other suspects were also arrested namely, Ezeoke Arinze aged 22 years of Awoda, Nnobi and Onochie Chibuzor ‘m’ aged 23 years of Okija in Ihiala LGA.

The  suspects  equally belong to a Secret Cult group known as Baggars  AKA SVC  and are all students of Anambra State University, Igbariam Campus.

Mohammed said their case is still under investigation after which suspects would be charged to Court for Prosecution.

The command urged parents to caution their children against joining secret cults or any criminal sub-culture in order not to be arrested and prosecuted.
