The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra State, on Wednesday, banned its executive members from campaigning for aspirants ahead of the 2021 governorship election in the state.
The state chairman of the party, Chief Ndubuisi Nwobu, announced the ban while receiving a governorship aspirant, Chief Wilson Udeh, at the party’s secretariat in Awka, the state capital.

Nwobu, who said the ban affected all officials of the party, from ward to state level, charged them to maintain neutrality as any defaulter would be sanctioned.
He said such parochial support for individual aspirants had worked against the party in past elections.
Nwobu promised that the party would provide a level playing ground for all aspirants and conduct transparent and credible primaries ahead of next year’s polls.
